EMOX: a prototype companion robot
EMOX is a personal service robot in the guise of a companion robot, capable of adapting to its environment and users. Its abilities include:
– mobility: EMOX can move independently or be remotely controlled by users via a web telepresence platform or an Android smartphone app;
– recognition of people, objects or text and the detection of faces, movement and colours;
– gestural communication and vocal expression enabling the robot to convey emotions such as happiness or melancholy.
The EMOX prototype companion robot was designed by Awabot’s R&D team in collaboration with the Grenoble Computer Science Laboratory (LIG), the Computer Science Laboratory for Image Processing and Information Systems (LIRIS) and the software company Voxler.
